Do you have unique skills and knowledge? Do you want to see change in the world? Are you willing to share what you know in a non-authoritarian and interactive way in an informal setting? We’d like you to be part of this project. We are all students and we are all teachers here. If you have a class idea that focuses on self-reliance, community, do-it-yourself culture, and creating a new and beautiful world, propose it to us.
While classes can be scheduled any time, there are certain deadlines that must be met for a calendar to make it onto that month’s printed calendar. The next calendar printing will take place 9/5/2011.
We encourage teachers to find their own spaces for their classes, but if you need it, we may be able to help you find a location.
For teachers, the deadline to remember is this deadline date. We’ll need your class info by that deadline. We will have the calendar finished within several days of that deadline, so if you miss it, you miss it. We will not calendar classes after this date.
Free Skool is a decentralized, non-institutional project, in other words, you and I make it happen. Therefore, you have certain responsibilities as a teacher. Promote your class through word-of-mouth, fliering, community outreach, and online. Work with other Free Skoolers to post calendars and fliers. Be prompt and reliable. Keep in touch with your students, before and after your class. Take good care of the spaces who graciously host your class. Help with the quarterly potluck and How to Run a Free Skool workshop.
